The Mishawaka Marian boys soccer team, barring an upset, is going to get to see a friendly and familiar foe come sectional championship time.

The No. 2 ranked Knights are positioned to meet No. 13 South Bend Saint Joseph in the title match of the Class 2A Marian Sectional.

Pairings for sectional play statewide, which is from Oct. 5-10, were made by the IHSAA Sunday night. Sectional title tilts are Oct. 10. Regional semifinals are Oct. 15, with regional title games Oct. 17. Semi-states are Oct. 24, and the state finals Oct. 30-31 in Indianapolis.

Marian, which dropped down to 2A from 3A this season, sits at 11-1. The Knights lone loss was a 2-0 setback to Class 3A No. 14 Concord. Marian, which won a Class 2A state title in 2023, owns a 1-0 win over rival St. Joe. The Knights scored in the final minute of the contest to beat the Huskies on Sept. 8 at Notre Dame.

The Knights, who will also host the regional, posted a 4-3 win Saturday over Class 3A No. 1 Goshen. Marian has outscored its 13 foes 57-9 this season.

South Bend Adams begins defense of its sectional title versus LaPorte in its own sectional. The Eagles, who won sectional and regional championships in 3A in 2025, are the lone team in their sectional field with a winning record at 9-6. Three of the losses for the Eagles have come to Marian, Penn and Saint Joe in NIC play.

The Class 3A field at the Elkhart Sectional is a loaded one again. Defending champion Concord will meet Goshen in a semifinal matchup. The Minutemen beat Goshen, 1-0, in a regular-season league matchup. Concord has won three sectional titles in a row under coach Shawn McCuen.

The Elkhart Sectional also has host Elkhart meeting Penn in a first-round contest. The pair of NIC foes are slated to play at Elkhart on Sept. 30.

LaVille, ranked No. 19, is the team to beat in the Class 1A Trinity Academy Sectional. The Lancers sit at 9-1 after a 3-1 loss to Class 2A Bremen on Saturday in the title match of the INSC Tournament. LaVille faces Marquette Catholic in a first-round sectional contest.

Host Trinity, which will play Westville in the sectional opener, is the only other team in its six-team field with a winning record.

The regional semifinal pairings will have the Adams Sectional winner playing at the Elkhart Sectional champion in 3A. The Hammond Bishop Noll Sectional winner will play at the Marian Sectional winner in 2A, and the DeMotte Christian Sectional winner will play at the Trinity Academy Sectional winner in 1A.

Area regional hosts for title games are Penn in 3A, Marian in 2A and Westview in 1A. The North semi-states are at Kokomo and at Chesterton, and assignments for those matchups will be made on Oct. 18.

The state finals for both the boys and the girls are Oct. 30-31 at IU Indianapolis, with those matchups being announced on Oct. 25. Game times are 6 and 8:30 p.m. Oct. 30 and 11 a.m., 1:30, 4 and 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.
