Texas will likely be without star SS against Texas A&M next weekend

· Yahoo Sports

Texas A&M (22-5, 5-4 SEC) won its first SEC series of the year after scoring 39 runs and hitting a collective .389 at the plate, led by junior first baseman Gavin Grahovac's four home runs, including a grand slam on Sunday afternoon. Overall, the Aggies did what they were supposed to do, beating an inferior opponent in dominant fashion.

Winning five in a row, Texas A&M will now host Vanderbilt for a three-game series after facing Sam Houston on Tuesday, followed by hosting the Texas Longhorns (23-4, 7-2 SEC), who have been one of the hottest teams in college baseball, but will reportedly be without star shortstop Adrian Rodriguez, who is slashing .271/.386/.383, while totaling three hits against Oklahoma this past weekend.

According to D1Baseball's Kendall Rogers, Rodriguez will be sidelined for at least two to three weeks, and while he doesn't lead the Longhorns, his timely hitting and defensive prowess will be missed against South Carolina this weekend before heading to College Station for the first time in two seasons.

For the Aggies, coach Michael Earley and pitching coach Jason Kelly must do a better job managing the pitching rotation, while starters Shane Sdao, Weston Moss, and Aiden Sims need to last at least five or six innings to give the bullpen, only if the offense continues to produce similar to this weekend's performance.

Texas A&M will face Texas in Game 1 on Friday, April 10, with the game airing on the SEC Network.
